They are simply taking the recipe they used to monopolize global internet platforms (Google Search, Facebook, YouTube, iOS, Android, Windows) and attempting to extend it into Big AI. This is entirely unsurprising and if not for China open sourcing models they would have almost certainly succeeded. Even now they are more successful than not due to how gullible the global population outside of China is; let’s not ignore the fact that Open AI is still by far the largest global market share on consumer AI and Gemini is their closest competitor, not any Chinese model, due to close integration with their existing platform monopoly.

depends on what you use it for. Most people using it for English application probably find o3 results to be a little better. I used o3 for some work stuff that was quite difficult and compared it to deepseek R1. Neither could solve the problem, but o3 seemed to give better results. Although, o3 seems to have this nasty habit of being extremely confident while hallucinating all the time.

And now apparently Apple is considering buying Mistral.
Can't say I am too surprised. US Big Tech wants monopoly over AI just as they had on tech everywhere except in China.
Open Source is seen as a threat to those ambitions.

Meta is simply screwed. Open source or not they are not up to the task of building competent ai, llama is basically trash these days.
An update on this, it seems like Manus' parent company has laid off most mainland Chinese staff and has reportedly decided against releasing the agent in China, now recruiting in Singapore and other countries
It's probably related to the $75 million investment they received from Silicon Valley VCs a while ago. Does China have any comparable AI agent services? I believe Bytedance is developing one.
12B investment by Ningxia compute data center. 10k+ GPU cluster and server production base. The plan here is to have it go into production in 2026. To produce 60k domestic computer per year with 30k server and 400k main frame.
Currently 中卫 data center operates 8 data center in China with 120k AI chips and 74 EFLOPS.
This is a clear case of Tech theft. They developed the tech in China and now they are literally fleeing from China and taking the tech with them.
I hope the govt prevent this from happening with proper export controls.
