Their rationale is that if o3 etc can save a company the need for a PhD, then they feel that is what it should be priced at, even if the actual cost for them to run inference is 100x cheaper

For every $2 China spends to subsidize AI for the world, thats $58 the US via OpenAI isnt making....

China has subsidized the world before, it needs to do so again... this AI race is 1000x more important than tiktok, temu, solar, 5g, or EV
Why should China sacrifice her own companies from making profit just for others to benefit? No country is selfless for mankind or whatever that even means. It will be foolish to invest the country capital for the world yo benefit while the country and her private companies who invested heavily on that don't get much benefit or profit from it..
They should just undercut western AI products in the market by offering more competitive prices. Instead of giving everything for free. Nobody does that. This is not a charity organisation

Driven by artificial intelligence, Chinese researchers have established a new technology for spatial proteomics

on February 6 that according to the "Voice of the Chinese Academy of Sciences", on January 23, Zhao Fangqing's team from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, published a research paper titled "High-resolution spatially resolved proteomics of complex tissues based on microfluidics and transfer learning" in Cell

the study proposed a new spatial proteomics technology framework - PLATO. By integrating artificial intelligence deep learning algorithms and microfluidics technology , it achieved high-resolution spatial proteomics detection at the level of whole tissue sections (25 micron resolution, thousands of proteins), breaking through the bottleneck of high-throughput in situ omics technology.

Really intriguing that Llama didn't spark the same development compared to DeepSeek
Yeah. Plus I think China should go behind 100% on harmony OS adoption. All Chinese companies should be mandated to port their apps and services to Harmony OS by a certain dateline and support their rapid expansion globally. . Because relying on the good grace of US is really silly. Its likely they will do that this coming months. What if the US decides to ban DeepSeek on US operating system Android and IOS? there's nothing China can do. So people around the world won't be able to download DeepSeek from their phones. These are things they should think about

First you ask why DeepSeek is open source, then you complain about Chinese reliance on Android. Your question answers itself.
