That's very low. How is China supposed to attract and retain talent like this? At this point they are completely relying on American xenophobia and bigotry against "Chinese spies" to stay competitive in the talent game.
China alone has roughly 50 percent Ai talent globally. we have over supply of engineers. plus These are college grads freshly out of schools. this is absolutely fine salary considering our cost of living and other things.

and let me tell you one thing, this time America just cannot snatch talent so easily.. this is the new era.

I must say if it's annual then it's damn low. Even fresh grad salary in podunk startup in my country (has much lower GDPPc than China) is higher.
Deepseek also provides high-paying internship opportunities, with AGI large model interns earning 500 to 1,000 yuan a day , and data know-it-all interns earning 500 to 510 yuan a day..

that is 15,000 to 30,000 RMB per month. and 180,000 to 360,000 RMB annually.

Here we go..

we have some details.

"Based on a 14-month pay structure, the annual salary for this position can reach up to 1.54 million RMB (approx. $212,520) before tax.

The minimum salary is 300,000 RMB (approx. $41,400) for a client-side R&D engineer. Interns can earn 500 RMB (approximately $69 USD) per day, with non-Beijing interns receiving a housing allowance if they relocate to Beijing, and opportunities for full-time conversion are available.

Additionally, some platforms indicate that Deep AGI large model interns can earn between 500 to 1,000 RMB (approx. $69 to $138) per day."

This is what I hate this thread has turned into. People posts a source and just assume the salary thinking that it's yearly salary, when anyone that follows Chinese factory salary would know 6000 to 9000 RMB/month is what they pay for entry level factory jobs. Yet, people somehow automagically assumed the salary mentioned in there is for the whole year for a core engineering position. Especially in a city like Hangzhou where per capita GDP is likely north of $25000. Try to use your brain when you write stuff like this rather than getting into an emotional place and posting nonsense. I don't know why this is still being discussed now. Any more post on this topic, I'm going to delete. And be aware, the level of posting here is getting dangerously low and I'm going to have to put temporary stoppage on people who post low quality here.

You deleted my post in which I was explaining why that has to be a monthly pay. I hope you are not thinking I was the one who assumed 9k to 13k USD as a yearly salary. I wish you had given a reason for the deletion to clarify.

And this complaint from you sounds quite patronizing. Personally I don't think it a big deal because it is mostly a cultural difference. We are all here to share and to learn. If you want to make a thread your own stage, make it clear for us.
