What is SMIC's 7nm capacity right now?SMIC SN1 in Shanghai was designed to produce 70K WPM at 14nm FinFET process with the expansion. But the capacity in terms of denser nodes is unknown.
they have SN1 and SN2. SN1 is 35k and SN2 is 35k. Based on previous filings, SN2 would've only opened up in Q3. So realistically, only 35k from SN1 is in production. And that's for both 14nm and 7nm. They'd been running at about 20-25k wpm for much of past year. If they can qualify de-americanized 14nm line, then, they can probably get to 20k wpm 7nm and 10-15k wpm 14nm
Very interesting interview
Dylan says that SMIC has 60K WPM capacity in Shanghai
SMIC can make 50-80 dies of Ascend 910B from 1 wafer
Is Ascend 910C on 5 nm node?
What about the 5nm/7nm capacity they are building in Beijing?they have SN1 and SN2.
That is just speculation on his part. The Beijing fab is 28nm planar process. It is also just one of three huge SMIC gigafabs with 100k wpm @ 28nm capacity each being built. One each in Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin. What about the 5nm/7nm capacity they are building in Beijing?
