Anyone one seen this movie yet? It's about the chinese civil war 1946 to 49. and a little bit of Korean war. I personally think it's a pretty good movie if anyone seen it please drop a line or two i am interested to find out what everyone else's opinion.

too bad it'll never be shown in USA. since it's about the PLA, and you know how they are portrayed here in US.

How is the PLA portrayed in the US?? I've never seen anyting about the PLA in the US media other than the PLA expanding. Never seen a single PLA soldier on the news. Never. I'm 54 years old.

Personaly I like history and would like to see the film. But it's not the type of movie that would make the producers any money. So on that account it may never make it to the US.

about Tibetan being shot by PLA broder while trying to escape china.

I been watching the nightly new for the past 2 weeks on Tibet,PLA "crackdown" on ABC is a nightly feature. so to say you never seen story about PLA is just wrong.

anyway i agree about the movie it won't make any money here. i think that's the reason it won't be shown here in US.

I only seen the trailer and it looks like a good war movie. Could not get the DVD though, am trying to get it asap.

However, as with all foreign movies, one must not expect it to be similiar to hollywood directed movies, otherwise you might not enjoy yourself.

Thats called cultural diversity, we do not have to think and act alike. Nature never intended us to be that way!

Well..I never watch ABC news. I watch FOX News exclusively...

We cannot discuss the unfortunate situation in Tibet as per my instruction.

15 minutes later.. I went to ABC news website and saw a short video that you mentioned. Thank you for the information!

yeah i saw this movie in China, and I written a review on imdb that voiced some of my criticisms on the film. Basically I dislike the film for its lack of authenticity in regard to the Chinese experience (since it is so heavily borrowed from western war movies). You can read the review here

I just saw the movie, it is actually pretty good. this movie is refreshing because it didn't talk about the heroics of the soldier. it talked about the sorrows of been forgotten, and dismissed by society at large after the war. Veterans who survived wars are alive not just for themselves, they are also alive to keep the memories of their fallen brothers.

Wow! You must be a cinema critic or something. Good comment.

It was a great movie. It nearly brought tears to my eyes.

I don't think this is a great film. In some aspects,it's rather bad. Lots of scenes is not real!you know, the PLA never used steel helmet in the civil war. There are too many mistakes in this film.
