My ads appears to from zcova diamond. Never have I searched online about diamond rings in my entire life.
I did a brief stint at a digital advertising company years ago and one of the methods the industry uses for ad targeting is based on correlation and historical probability.
Simplified example: you go to a clothing e-commerce site and buy a pair of blue jeans, a men’s grey jacket and searched for pack of wool socks. The systems looks in its history and find other people who have also bought a pair of blue jeans, a men’s grey jacket and searched for wool socks and see that 30% of those consumers bought a women’s pink ballerina dress as their next purchase. So the system starts showing you ads for pink ballerina dresses. It doesn’t matter (nor does the system care) that you’re not interested and never searched for a pink ballerina dress, it just knows theres a very strong statistical correlation for whatever reason and those are the ads that you’re going to get.
Correlation analysis is a very powerful tool and used for way more stuff than ad-targeting btw.
