Too many dollars are created in US that then partly leak into international trade. The problem is an internal US one. But the US government has now been spending money on continuing resolutions and without a legal budget for years said a financial analyst on my favourite radio station last week.

Abe probably feels he doesn't have any good options, because whether Japan says 'yes' or 'no' to the US, the ending might still be the same. I say that because If China doesn't fall flat on its face, it will continue to grow and reemerge to its traditional place atop Asia. US may at some point in the future realign its interests towards China, and away from Japan. Abe probably didn't like how the Trump-Xi meeting went. Too positive for his liking especially compared to the coverage with his meeting with Trump. That whole handshake thing and Abe's facial expression summed it all up about who was in charge. Now Japan is going to act out like when Obama was in office.
