National Interest article with some sense ?!
Something ominous is on the horizon. I predict tumultuous change in the skies and churning of the seas, the beasts of the earth scrambling aimless, birds breaking flock...

Maybe not. But Mabubhani is delivering a sermon to deaf ears. Much of USA has been so infected with the ideologies of war, conflict and confrontation that China's biggest test would be to navigate around the threat. Diffusing it is impossible.

It used to be free delivery and you only need to tip the delivery guy. Now due to the convenience of ordering from Doordash and grubhub, people get charged 15% to 20% above regular meal prices and all sort of fees.

I used to own restaurants and can say that Doordash and grubhub rip off both the customers and the restaurant owners.
Not Just Eat or Deliveroo. Can confidently say that people are ripping Delivery service/restaurants in Europe.

Seems like a problem unique in Randian utopias.

The danger of overplaying the propaganda card ; that it ended up brainwashing your own populace and render totally clueless/ignorant.
You have to admit this is quite funny, if not sad that the USA ahas progressively lost more of this ability to critically think about the consequences due to so many factors that have sprung up in the last few decades, like being woke, not fixing their racism issues and having really stupid pampered leaders who only know how to talk not think

I think there is probably two problems at work at the same time.

1) Not many foreigners understand China. Most people in the United States never even been to China. They have no clue about the place. I read an article recently that a senior member of the Chinese government, was complaining that many officials and academics in China, do not understand what the country is like. I can believe that. Sometimes we read something from an important Chinese individual, and their opinion about what is going on inside China, seems obsolete or outdated. It's weird, but China is a big country. Often no one really knows what is going on.

For example, IC in China, where is it at really? Liu He will sort things out.

2) In America, no one wants to be that politician who is viewed as losing at something. What they do is try to avoid the blame, and always accuse the other person, which makes it look like they are winning or have the upper hand. No one is willing to take the blame, for example, for losing the 5G race to Huawei and China. If we go by facts, Huawei is achieving a crushing victory in 5G networks, which was what the war over 5G was all about, but in the view of the Americans, they have hurt Huawei and are winning or going to win.

Yeah, right.

No one wants to take the blame in America, it is a game of musical chairs. One day, the truth will be made public, the music stops, now they need a scapegoat to blame.

=========== ============

That is why Biden is really stupid.

After President Trump, the Biden people could have blamed his predecessor for everything, including President Trump's failed trade war, and ineffective tech war.

But no, the Biden people adopt President Trump failed China policies as his own.

Now President Trump turns around and starts blaming the Biden people as being weak on China (when they are still using the policies he implemented).

President Trump understands America. People like to hunt for witches. Those evil witches actually do exist, they cause some sort of social media fail, and now they must be cancelled. That is America.

Durable good are running at double digit inflation
Expected. This is happening all over the world now. I am actually seeing prices increasing every week on different categories of products every time I go on the supermarket. This also includes, fuel, electronics, agricultural products, real eastate, automobiles, transportation costs, raw materials etc

Every category of goods you can imagine of is getting higher prices. At this point I am resigned to getting economically poorer by having higher prices everywhere.

This is happening all over the world now. Wages might stay the same but costs are skyrocketing. Screw the central banks and their QE

Worse, a country's propaganda can brainwash its own leaders, causing them to make serious mistakes (e.g. "Trade wars are good and easy to win").
