CORAL SEA (July 6, 2023) A Sailor aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA-6) signals a U.S. Marine Corps F-35B pilot with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, to take off during flight operations in the Coral Sea, July 6, 2023. The F-35B provides a wide range of capabilities such as electronic warfare, reconnaissance and missile strikes. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
