Anyway, China is building aircraft carriers and equipping them with aircraft, and sailing them where they want? "Taiwan Strait"? I fail to see why Japan building their own carriers to maintain their own defence? (The Trumpster has told all our allies, they need to do more of their own "heavy lifting"! fact).
So its not necessarily the US taxpayers responsibility to do the things our friends need to step up and do for themselves.
As I stated earlier, China has/is changing the dynamics in the region, its up to our allies to match that dynamic as they are able, and we do and will continue to help.
