Nimitz-class
Complement:

Complement: 679 crew, not including air element;

ratio 3532/679 = 5.2 (five point two)

for displacements it's something like 100/64 which is about 1.5 (one point two)

so? the Nimitz-class operations have been perfected as far as I know, with about 35 sailors per 1kt of displacement;

in this sense the QE-class would require 64*35 = 2240 sailors, not 679! 2240 - 679 = 1561 "missing"

would be funny if it wasn't dangerous

QEC crew complement has now been increased following operational experience to 800 per vessel. Cameron and Osbourne threw away nearly 5000 trained Sailors (as well as a similar number of airmen plus 30,000 soldiers) back in the 2010 SDSR in order to fund tax cuts for Billionaires. Rebuilding the Armed Forces after their Treasonous Behaviour will take a while.

You considered based on Nimitz class. What about other big boats?
Enterprise class, crew compliment 3000 minus air wing.

Ford class 2600 Oh my god Ford is doomed more.... It's under crewed!! (Actually it's the same number as an Essex class)
Kitty Hawk class crew around 2930.

French carrier Clemenceau varies 1338 as a carrier or 984 for rotary wing.
Charles de Gaulle 1350.

Crew size for a carrier varies drastically based on any number of things. A good number of that 3000+ on Nimitz class are not involved in actual combat related duties they are cooks, barber's, staff, librarians, Laundry, ships store clerks, and various support jobs. Only a small amount actually touch the bombs or operate ships systems. With automation that number can start dropping. Removing things like steam cats, reactors, arresting wires means less specialist who are charged with the maintenance of those. Basing a crew compliment by size is silly because as automation and improved reliably have advanced there is less need of specialists to be on hand all the time.
The bigger the crew the bigger the crew needed to clean up, feed and check there teeth.
The smaller crew doesn't need to have say a dentist and their staff on board.

Heard the Captain say it in an interview, was also mentioned during documentaries. I'll take Captain Kyd's word over Google anyday...

thought it was obvious Today at 8:25 AM I mean cases of fire or combat damage, when every pair of hands would be needed for hosing or carrying wounded;

you need "redundancy" if for example a firefighter team is KIA, but I don't want to write about it

True and not true. Every sailor aboard evry ship serving with the USN is trained in firefighting and damage control no matter their rating.

Smaller crewed ships do not have dentist but they do have Hospital Corpsmen serving a dental technicians...but they can't do everything.

Automation is the future. The way to get there is long. You must start as early as possible to find and eliminate all design errors as quickly as possible.

There sure is. That's why there are over 200 men & women in G division handling weapons. they work in 12 hour shifts as long as the ship is at sea.

I was an AO for 11 of 20 years serving the USN and it is my observation that the USN has nearly perfected bomb building...that is something the USN does right.
