I am guessing that the Mistrals would come with the offer of french made LCATS landing craft. My guess is they would follow the European Marine model

They also operate both the AH64D and have standing orders for the KA52 both as we know have the capacity for nationalization.

Following the high-profile meeting, Reuters quoted Hollande as saying:

Yesterday, I agreed the price and conditions of this sale with (Egyptian) President (Abdel Fattah al-) Sisi and so France will ensure the delivery of these ships without losing anything, while helping protect Egypt.

However, he did not want to disclose any more detail about how much the deal is worth.

Reuters reported that a French defense ministry source said the deal could be set at around 950 million Euros.

E950,000,000 Euros' = $1,059,350,000..that my friends is a bargain. I think the ships cost about $650 million USD each and France paid Russia back $1.5 billion USD...so France is losing money. The French also have to train the Egyptians on how to operate those ships.

(CNN)France has agreed to sell Egypt two Mistral-class helicopter carriers that were previously contracted to go to Russia, the Elysee Palace announced Wednesday.

The previous $1.3 billion contract with Moscow was signed in 2011 by the French government under Nicolas Sarkozy's presidency, but was suspended last year in the midst of violent unrest in eastern Ukraine.

The warships are powerful amphibious assault vessels equipped with six helicopter landing zones. Each of them can carry up to 16 heavy helicopters, along with tanks and about 500 troops.

A source close to French Minister of Defense Jean-Yves Le Drian said that the two warships were to be sold to Egypt for around 950 million euros ($1.06 billion) and delivered around March 2016.

The sale amount included the costs of training of 400 Egyptian naval crewmen in the Saint-Nazaire shipyards in France, the source said.

Negotiations began on August 6. French President Francois Hollande and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Tuesday reached an agreement that will be signed in the coming days, the source said.

Other countries, including Canada, were interested into buying the two vessels, according to the source.
