There have been many similar claims in the past with regards to Algeria purchasing aircraft be it the Su-57 or the Su-34 but these never materialized. The Su-57 production rate at this time is just too low for any exports to happen. I think exports will only happen after the Su-57M enters service.

13° the Bilateral Committee between Italy and Algeria

On Wednesday, November 30, the work of the 13th Italian-Algerian Bilateral Committee was held at the Guidoni Palace, the headquarters of the General Secretariat of Defense and the National Directorate of Armament, and continued until Thursday, December 1, with a visit to the production headquarters of Leonardo. The meetings were chaired by the Secretary General of National Defense and Armament, Luciano Portolano, and Major General Mohamed Salah Benbisha, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Defense. The Italian party confirmed the commitment and readiness of the Italian Ministry of Defense to support its Algerian counterpart in any future acquisition of locally produced systems through the exchange of technology and industrial knowledge. The focus of the discussions was particularly on the helicopter production project in Sétif, Algeria, to ensure that it becomes a starting point for future industrial cooperation. Important for the first 7 AW-139 helicopters. Both sides were very hopeful to formalize this part in the first half of 2023. Then the conversation touched on the possible cooperation agreement between Fincantieri and the Algerian shipyard ECRN in Mers-el-Kebir (Oran), which aims to develop a possible joint shipbuilding program, which will allow the Algerian side to acquire technical and managerial know-how. After that, the Algerian delegation expressed strong interest in the new AW-249 helicopter. All the activities agreed upon in the context of previous bilateral agreements have been completed thanks to the continuous work of the bilateral working groups and the cooperation of Italian industries in the sector, for example, Fincantieri, Leonardo, MBDA Italia, Elettronica and Rheinmetall Italia.

Four tanker A330 MRTT for the army air algerian

An A330 MRTT Voyager of the RAF is in the process of conducting extensive testing of transport and refuelling at this time in Algeria. The testing took place in the North and in conditions that are more extreme in the extreme South, with take-off at full charge of airports, high-altitude and hot climate.

Testing of in-flight refueling have been performed on Su-30MKA and Su-24M2 of the air force and showed a perfect compatibility between the devices. It is to be noted that in may 2013, a MRTT had visited Algeria for similar tests in view of the negotiations, which had stopped a few months later. It seems that the delay is taken by Russia in the placing on the market of It-478 pushed Algeria resume language with Airbus Military in order to revive the project with a purchase of at least four devices. The end goal being to reach the eight-to-air refuellers.

Algeria has a good basis for maintenance of long-haul Airbus and many technicians trained on this type of devices, which will allow a fast integration into the fleet of tankers.
