Go read up on South Korea's history, it was a military dictatorship until the 1960s. And until the 1970s, North Korea was economically light years ahead of the South. You made it seem that you guys care so much about South Korea. Have you ever considered that the US was just in there to stop and contain Communist expansion in Asia? It's simply about interests. And yes I am Canadian, but that doesn't change a thing. An interventionalist is an interventionalist.

up until teh 1980s south korea was ruled by a military dictatorship comparable in every way to the Kim family of NK
until the oil crisis of tthe 70s north Korean was ages ahead of Sk economically with a adquient health care system 8hour work days and greater industrial production ( south korea mainly exported cheap textiles at the time )

Geeeeez people! We've had like what, 4 threads today that turned into country-bashing or "I don't like it when people insult my great country" relay races.
Legitimate patriotism, official facts, decent knowledge of patriotism aside, this stuff doesn't really belong on this forum.
And in addition... history is subjective. You may believe one story but it may differ from somebody else's opinion, and he/she is entitled that. If the other person's story is plain bullshit then you are obligated to call it, but simply replying, "We're a great country so you can't bash us" is not convincing. That said, let's all take a step back before yet another thread gets closed down again...
I swear, we are on a roll today, people. Accuse me of slippery slope, but the level of discussion will go down if some people aren't willing or able to have rational discussions as opposed to going 'broken record'.

Global Talk is an option... it may be a little slow, but hey, you can make it come alive. I'm fair game for discussion, if you guys want to take it up.
