it seems they no longer hold their guns forward when marching, except for the last 2 formations (reserve and female militia). i also felt they didn't march as well as they did 10 years ago, and the camera angle this year really doesn't show much. in addition whenever the camera zooms in the video gets really laggy.

anyone noticed the weird section/transition between the vehicle formation and the plane formation? seems to be a technical problem by CCTV...

IMO, the infantry columns weren't as impressive as the ones before.

I've seen that 1999 parade, but not the one tonight. However, I'll note that the Chinese are more interested nowadays in technological warfare and hardware/software, not just in nice stepping infantry, so I believe they lessened emphasis on infantry (in terms of numbers especially).

I think the only reason why they didn't point their guns forward is because they weren't using the old rifles. If you see the 1999 parade, the sailors are holding the type 95 and they are holding it near their body, the same way as all the marchers today. Other then that, Great parade, but it seems that there were a lot less marchers per group compared to 1999.

Saw the cruise missiles and the drones, did they show the DF-41 at all? I noticed the commentators became rather quiet about the designations once it got to the 2nd artillery ballistic missiles.

Fast PAP and Beijing Police mobilization.

The first intersection (about 500m from Chang'An Avenue) after Tian'anmen get almost out of control, but PAP and Beijing Police mobilized very fast. In 1 hour time, they mobilized almost 1000 personnel on 1 spot for crowd control. Arround 10h00 there were only less than 20 security force like most blockade.
The security force were very nervous, yelling : back, back....:)

I hope this was a lesson for the organization, apparently during 1999 parade, people were allowed to get on Chang'An Avenue.

I noticed also that a Beijing Police officer had command of the PAP units, is this possible?

A parade of this magnitude can only happen in China and no where else !

Everything was like I thought, love the post military floats and themes as well, they did not forget the past struggles, present and future. The veterans float with the 3 orders of medals was extremely poignant and so was Mao's float. :china:
