The parade start 10:00 am Beijing time. there's probably going to be a 5-10 minute speech by Hu Jintao and then start the march. 10:00 am Beijing time is 8:00 pm Mountain Time, 7:00 pm Pacific time. you guys can figure out the rest. The military parade will last 66 minutes and then the civilian parade after that (which no one really cares about) will last around 80 minutes.. or so the rumor goes.

Floats parade is very charming, dazzling, colorful, with Olympic gold medalist, space heroes, stars, or supermodels, Miss China? There will be 10 people hidden under each float,, in case the engine of float shut off, they will push the float moving together.
and the dance performances choreographed by Zhang Yimou, flowers like the sea, unpredictable ....

I can only receive the CCTV-4 channel here. Does anyone know if it'll be viewable on CCTV-4?

If not is there anywhere online where I could view it live? It would be really disappointing not to be able to see this.

That would be Wednesday night in the States.

You guys know if the whole thing will be on CCTV9, which is the English CCTV? This is the only Chinese station we can get in our basic cable package.

PiSigma,
Do you know from where i can see parade, from what i hear, we "normal people/tourist" can't get close enough to see any of the parade. All hotels near the parade route will closed or you can't get out of your hotel on October 1. I met a family of a senior PLA officer, even they can't watch parade, they will watch it on tv. I don't have a flight of 10 000km to watch it on tv, so any info are welcome.

I can't read Chinese, maybe you can help me or you have more information from Chinese BBS.

The parade will be shown on CCTV4 and 9. And the locals are encouraged to watch on TV for security purposes. The parade will be on ChangAn avenue (the road in front on TianAnMen) and anyone living along that road is told to stay away from windows and keep their windows and blinds shut and watch the parade on TV. It doesn't matter if you are PLA (you can buy fake uniforms or outdated uniforms) or senior officials, NO ONE is encouraged to look out their windows at the parade, or to invite family and friends to their loft to watch the parade. The security is very tight along ChangAn avenue and surrounding neighbourhoods right now right up until Oct. 8. Everyone watching from windows is just too much work for the snipers working on that day. I have family that lives 3 blocks west of the forbidden city on ChangAn avenue and they are not allowed to watch from their house (All the houses/apartments on the west side of forbidden city are high level government officials, starting from ZhuNanHai to rest of the ministers and department heads). So I hope you have a good TV in you hotel, because that'll be the only way you can watch it.
