Where was the 'Enterprise' PE.

I would like to go OT for a moment to relate this story told to us by a helicopter pilot serving aboard the 'Enterprise' in 71. I and a group of friends were having drinks and, dinner during which we were recalling scary helicopter incidences we had experienced.

On this occassion, while the Enterprise was on RR in the Phillipines he was required to fly the ship’s Captain (Boss?) as well as some other senior serving officers of The Enterprise for a game of golf to some place whose name I forgot.

Two attempts on the previous days had to be aborted because of low cloud on the approaches and on the third day they decided to try a different route by flying up the coastline. With a strong tailwind, they made good progress but once again had to abort because of cloud conditions.

With worsening conditions, they got enveloped by cloud and became disorientated. They radioed base for guidance, only to be told that they must be flying too slow because of the headwind the radar could not pick them out. After flying stationary in the cloud for more than an hour one of the engines started to play up. Luckily not to long afterward they saw a very small break in the clouds and went for it. The increased speed allowed them to be picked up by radar and helped back to base. The pilot said as they got off the helicopter, he noticed the Boss shirt was wet with sweat?
