I gonna say it's kinda amazing how much bargaining power and leverage Pakistan has at the moment. They really hold a lot of cards right now.
It's funny how India keeps saying how irrelevant they are as a parish nation in geopolitics but everyone even the US disagrees.
Allegedly IRGC troops on Kharg island have fpv equipped with anti personnel mines now, pilot trained by Russian and "someone from a mystery country in the east"; those pilots then served as instructors and trained more local soldiers.

Even if they could take an island near the strait, then what? Every day Iran is going to be dropping all manner of ordinance on their head with drones and missiles ala Snake Island and how does marine's presence on those islands open up the strait? The methods that Iranians have been using to shut the strait from ships they don't want through - missile boats, mines, anti-ship missiles don't stop working just because US has an island foothold there.
Correct me if I'm wrong but ever since Force Design 2030 marines have been training to take islands then unload this thing onto those island to shoot at ships:
Which is questionably useful against PLAN in the pacific, but in the Persian Gulf this doctrine would be good at closing the strait, not opening it?
