I was told once by random people on the internet that Iran has a whitelist internet policy, so much stricter (and easier to implement) than blacklist policies like the GFW. I guess this isn't true from what you're saying. Can someone give me a rundown on Iran Internet censorship?

Lol no way, Iran didn't ban Instagram until 2022 and WhatsApp until yesterday (!!!).

From what I know, China GFW is root level control. Every connection in and out of China travels through very few data links and traffic is routed internally as much as possible. Even foreign websites mostly operate with Chinese mirrors ie Microsoft Bing China is physically in China.

Almost no data links go to the west directly either, and instead they use Russia, Hong Kong and Japan as buffers.

The degree of control is very fine too. The fact that they can tighten control during politically sensitive times means that they actually know exactly what internet activity is happening and even gray zone activities.

Not sure why people think the Iranian regime is going to collapse, even if the US joins, short of a ground invasion. Saddam Hussein stuck around for 10 years after Desert Storm. Unless the US has some rebel proxy they can use for ground force, airstrikes alone hasn't toppled any regime.

10 or more days? I think they are having trouble just to keep up now. This multilayer-multi nation defense system has degraded incredible fast.

No normal president in the US would have give the authorization to the Israelis to attack Iran without significant multiple months or even years of planning and propping them up giving them billions in cruise missiles, long range missiles and defense for months.

Israel would probably perform 10x better if they had taken the same $ spent on imperialist equipment and spent it all on PLA equipment instead.

It's not about censorship/allow listing- its about physical control of your internal network and monitoring / regulating all connections in and out of your country.

Probably can put down a really heavy standoff strike package with a B-52. The time line matches up.

I think the problem is they have the US-NATO doctrine of Air Supremacy, that works well, if you have boots on the ground or is a short term campaign. The issue is that has a lot of limitations, first, multi-role jets carry a limited amount of firepower, diminishing the damage. Second, jets require maintenance and pilots get fatigue. Third, without boots in the ground, is very difficult to find and deal with mobile, camouflage, hidden targets while you moving at hundred of kilometers per hour and kilometers high, the time of finding needles in haystack could be spend better in the mission main goals. And the Israelis are lucky that for some weird reason the Iranians don't have thousands of MANPADs.
