Being a professional Brosinter probably pays better and have a lower barrier of entry than people who need to properly research and write accurate articles about defense. Look at the view count of bite sized rambling on YouTube vs well researched, properly sourced videos. There's no need to maintain credibility as they can hide behind the excuse of being entertainment.
The emergence of meme subreddit/twitter accounts/channels probably contributed to the nosedive in content quality. It also does not help that asoturfers are all too happy to push incorrect information along if it fits with their employees requirements.
Even for PLA watching a lot of the popular content from the Chinese creators themselves need to be examined closely for exaggeration or touting prediction as fact.
