where the Games would be held, and one outside, where daily life would go on as normal.

But the past two weeks have also shown the world two very different Games: For China, Beijing 2022 was a resounding success that exceeded all expectations. To the rest of the world, it remained a deeply polarizing event, that projected not only China's rising power but also its growing assertiveness, ready to defy and challenge its critics.

the ubiquitous face masks, endless spraying of disinfectant and rigorous daily testing have paid-off. Infections brought into the country were swiftly identified and contained, allowing the Games to run largely free of Covid even as the Omicron variant raged around the world.

In the medal tables, Team China claimed nine golds and a total of 15 medals, delivering its best ever result at a Winter Olympics -- and ranking above the United States. The stellar performances of its new Olympic stars -- from

In comparison, a Tempurpedic frame+mattress set will set you back $4000 for the most basic smart bed setup. I'm sure this Chinese company has figured its way out of the patent minefield to get the price down to $1300!

I'll wait for "6.18" and "11.11" deals on its taobao store.
Despite the constant bashing from sinophobes, Chinese manufacturing and products is a blessing for this world. They always find a way to give us value for money products. The quality is also improving every year and world class in many instances.
There are reports she may not ski competitively anymore as she focus on her studies at Stanford. Probably just talk. She is still very young and the next Olympics is 4 years away.

Su yiming though is certain he will compete again and bring glory to his country according to his weibo.

Taking into account her athleticism, talent and work ethic she should be good for the next Olympics. The issue in question is her motivation. Does she still want to win more Olympic medals?

It seems like she already got a grand slam in freestyle skiing titles. Sometimes when an athlete has won everything, they kinda lose interest in the sport. Winning all the time gets boring lol.

However if she does show up in 2026, she'll be the gold medal favorite without a doubt. Just a guess, we'll know for sure in 4 years time:cool:

On the podium, she says she does it because she enjoys it.
So the Olympic medals are really just a byproduct of this.

And part of her rationale in competing in the Olympics was to inspire more people into snowsports and also be proud of their Chinese identity. That will still apply in the next Olympics.

Wait did that pretty Dutch girl custom-print her Team China jersey? Now that's one step further than Huang Yu-ting.

DPP trolls where are you?
If I want to increase my odds to get more exposure (they say its all a numbers game) to that classic blonde hair, blue eyes, white/light complexion/skin type of beautiful woman... say on a trip or vacation to Europe, which countries are best or most condusive to that? Sweden? Norway? Swithzerland, Denmark, Findland, Iceland, Germany etc?

It's never guaranteed. 4 years is a long time in any sports. Some other teen prodigy may emerge.
I agree with the motivation part for those won almost everything. But usually it's more with athletes who are nearing the end of their careers. Those who win early usually want to win again, it's like an addiction and part of a champion mentality.

I dun know with Gu though. From most of the interviews it seems like like her motivation is 50-50? part of it is she enjoys doing wat she does, part of it I assume is the money. The part about inspiring chinese women seems to PR for me. But maybe it's true and I'm being a small man.

Anyway She mentioned her grandma was also the reason she is representing china and there was that recent interview where she says her grandma isn't that thrilled about her skiing cuz it's dangerous lol. Yeah I guess we will see, maybe she finds other interest while studying in Stanford. Hard to predict now.
