Right, to try and make this thread more relevant, maybe we can review the impact this virus has on the PLA’s combat readiness?
Does anyone have any information on any measures the PLA took in the early stages of the virus, like recall of personnel on leave?
My view is that some services will be affected more than others. For the airforce, I don’t see much if any impact owing to the nature of fighter jets being very good at isolating pilots once they are in the air.
But I can see this being a potential temporary issue for the navy.
I suppose this is a good biowarfare exercise for the PLA. They can break out the hazmat gear on base, where they are unlikely to alarm civilians, and treat all personnel who have been off-base in the build up of the virus to biowarfare decontamination protocols.
That might leave PLAN warships potentially undermanned in the couple of weeks needed to clear returning personnel, but they can also make that into exercises to simulate operating with combat losses.
