You got what I'm trying to say wrong. Of course no one is calling anyone to deliberately lose their matches. What I was saying is that it's about time that Hong Kong, or Macau for that matter, to compete in team events under a one China banner. Because the emotion of treating a fellow countrymen or women such as a Hong Konger or Macanese as a foreign adversary when going up against a mainland Chinese athlete leaves a bad taste, so to speak.

I want to cheer any Hong Kong or Macau athlete as part of a Chinese contingent, at all times, but everytime they come up against the mainland, in team events, there is this dissonance going on. In an individual event, like a pro tennis, badminton or ping-pong tour event, then this is no issue, because you are essentially representing your own self.

Ahh... but anyway, seems like what I'm trying to convey here is not being fully understood. It's my personal oppinion anyway, so I guess cheers, and enjoy the sports!
Okay I didn't understand it the first time. My bad. As I explained the playing under one flag thing is very political and some players might oppose to it as it will endanger their playing opportunities

To maximize its golden harvest, Beijing has focused on less prominent sports that are underfunded in the West or sports that offer multiple Olympic gold medals.
Imagine having the nerve to say this. Like bitch the only reason America even tops the table is because of padding medals in Swimming (which is an expensive sport).
NYT is truly a rag paper .
