Of course no one is calling anyone to deliberately lose their matches. What I was saying is that it's about time that Hong Kong, or Macau for that matter, to compete in team events under a one China banner. Because the emotion of treating a fellow countrymen or women such as a Hong Konger or Macanese as a foreign adversary when going up against a mainland Chinese athlete leaves a bad taste, so to speak.
I want to cheer any Hong Kong or Macau athlete as part of a Chinese contingent, at all times, but everytime they come up against the mainland, in team events, there is this dissonance going on. In an individual event, like a pro tennis, badminton or ping-pong tour event, then this is no issue, because you are essentially representing your own self.
Ahh... but anyway, seems like what I'm trying to convey here is not being fully understood. It's my personal oppinion anyway, so I guess cheers, and enjoy the sports!
