While watching the swimming I was puzzled by how they classified the disability to determine who can compete against another. In one final the Chinese women swimmer had only one arm and dead heated for 3rd. The swimmers who beat her appeared to have fully functional limbs.
According to Wiki amputees can compete against people with cerebral palsy in swimming.Might be visually impaired.
Perhaps in the future, we should suggest that the overall winning country in the medal count is determined by combining the para with the regular Olympics.Lowest total medal count since 2004. I wonder why. Maybe lack of interest in diverting resources to something China so easily dominates but which also lacks a good return on its investment? No idea.
