The VT-5 would be a great replacement for our T-55AM2.
They both seem to be different tank turrets, guns, and chassis. Or at least heavily modified versions of the same. Notice how the roadwheels don't look the same on both vehicles or how the fume extractor isn't in the same position. One also seems to have more modular armor packages than the other. The driver position in the hull seems different. In one tank it's in the middle, and in the other tank I think it's in the right of the chassis.
I think those pictures show three tanks. Two are Type 96 derived and the other is some variation of the VT-5 tank.
The Type 96 derived tanks seem to be the VT-4 in the picture above (left) and the VT-2 in the picture below (right).

I think that this is likely a closer derivative of the PLA light tank then the Vt5. The shape of the turret armor and skirt is closer to pictures of the PLA issued light tank. It may be that they feel offering it as a second package is a good move.Another photo of the slightly different VT-5... I think this is the slightly updated version, whereas the other version was the original shown off at Norinco's Armor Day in 2017.

It is a pity that they cover up rear of the gun. As it is the loading mechanism that is of the most interest.Interesting... The turret design on the light tank below is slightly different from the one in my very last post, which is immediately above this one.
