09V/09VI (095/096) Nuclear Submarine Thread

lcloo

Major
It makes things more difficult indeed but not impossible as it would still be possible to attack the submarine while going or out of the pens, and nowadays munitions can loiter waiting for the moment
That is why we have often seen photo and videos of type 056A doing escort duties whenever larger ships exit the port or naval bases. They will be sweeping the front of the routes taken by large ships, DDGs, aircraft carriers, LPD/LHA and submarines, on the way to the open sea.

SOYO on Weibo has suggested that the 096 SSBN could end up as a Sino-Triomphant, but with a shrouded propeller/pumpjet and an X-stern.

It has been stipulated that the following 3D model design of the SSBN with a hull diameter of 13.75 meters (made by SOYO himself) would be the worst design that the 096 SSBN could ever get (as in, we can expect the 096 SSBN to have better-looking designs than that).

i remember you shared one of research paper regarding SLBM launch hump. in which the design matches with Vanguard. lol

now this Triomphant class rumors.

the reality is, we hardly know anything about 096 design except one thing its hull diameter size. which could be around 13.5m to 14m. this is going to be a big Boat.

i don't know much about submarine. but this design looks more stealthy. maybe they are trying to minimize the hump visibility.

this design also matches with French next class SSBN

That first photo which I've posted is basically the model of the Triomphant SSBN itself.

Though to put it simply, I believe that the Triomphant SSBN could be viewed as the Vanguard SSBN, but with the turtleback extended completely to the stern section of the submarine, thus making the SSBN much more streamlined (and its turtleback less pronounced).

Of course, I'd say that the 096 SSBN could go either way with what information we obtained thus far (though personally, I like the French design more).
