How come the type 075 is not as big as the Wasp or the Italian version? Why are they waiting for the type 075A before they implement the bigger design? This is much like the type 071A and the type 052DL, when they would implement the smaller design for the first batch and the go for for the extended version in the second batch.

Do we reliably know the ballpark length and tonnage of the 075? Wasp and Izumo can be found here:

Wasp (843ft, 40,500T) is slightly longer but much heavier than Izumo (814ft, 27,000T). If the order of that picture suggests the opposite, it's wrong right off the bat. If 075 is >800 feet, ~40,000T, then it is Wasp-sized and much larger but similarly-lengthed to Izumo.

It appears they’re almost exactly same size as the Wasp. Whether why they didn’t choose to make them as large as the newer America class, I have no idea, but it might be to facilitate building more.

There’s no evidence towards a 2nd batch or alternate designs. I think very early on, someone speculated that some 075 would be built without well deck as helicopter carrying destroyers only (which would have made their weight more in line with the Japanese Izumo), but we can see that the current one has a well deck.

This is fzgfzy's very confident speculation on the 075.

Full displacement 31,500t, 220m x 32m, two elevators, two 1130, two HQ10, 6 aircraft parking spots plus 6 takeoff spots.

第四，两门近防炮，两座海拉娒。
第五，六个停机位＋六个起飞点，很好了。强突击时很好用，这个验证要拿划线了。

The highlighted part says according to google translator : "waterline 220X32", but the CGI looks more like overall length of 220 meter. If the waterline length is 220 m, the overall length should be in the range of ~240 meter.
