But yes it’s only a “rumour” until we got satellite picture. This summer would be a good time

Interesting. It says that these two will be launched in 2022. So we won't have to wait too long to verify the validity of the rumor. They even have the names of the two ships.

Taking on relief supplies for Tonga. Note the deck opening and the use of the deck crane, both of which are a rare sight.

It’s taken a month to arrive, since the eruption. It’s pretty good, and I think China should be able to cut this time down the next time. Hopefully they can be among the first on scene in each major disaster around the west pacific?
The actual journey took 16 days, over a distance of about 10,000 km. The equipment and material carried on the ship are mainly for re-construction of buildings damaged or destroyed duriing the valcono eruption.

Also China need to liaise with Tonga on the items that they needed for re-construction of their island nation, anyway the materials and equipment sent by ships are less urgent than water, food, clothing, medicine etc which were sent by air. Procurement time for these material, especially the tractors and pre-fab houses, might need quite some time as they are not the normal relief materials ready-stored in an emergency relief warehouse.

Urgent aid materials were sent by Y20 transport jets once the airport runway had been cleared of valcono dust a few days after eruption.

Even better that the Chinese Navy ship type 71 did not break down like the Aussies ship did. How sad for the kangaroo lovers!
