To Jeff and delft, I do not know about those specific lpd engines but I do know that Shaanxi builds a lot of marine engines under license from SEMT Pielstick.

It's certainly a possibility because some pielsticks are rebranded shaanxi.

I cannot find the licensees page on the website of MAN, the owner of Pielstick, but on the site of the trading arm of Shaanxi Marine Diesel (

Well, it seems likely that they do license build it perhaps. Not sure, but they certainly do other products.

As I normaly need satellite pictures explained to me: do I understand correctly from your post on the 054A thread and this post that the image shows a 054A on the "upper left" bow to bow with a 071 to the "lower right" ?

On the dry docks of the Hudong Shipyard in Shanghai, there is also the 6th Type 071 LPD and the 28th Type 054A frigate under construction.

28th Type 054A..what a great build for the PLAN.

And the 6th Type 071...again a GREAT run for the PLAN.

No one outside of the US Navy has that many of those large LPDs.

At first glance, it is an LNG of 174 000m³, but in fact it hides the 6th LPD of Type 071 (20 000t) and the 29th frigate Type 054A (4 000t).
