Does anybody know what these objects that look like white barrels are? Seems like 6 on each side.

Those are lifeboat canisters. They inflate either manually or automatically and are sealed in an inert gas environment until they are used or sent for periodic inspections at the manufacturer. You can see them on most modern warships.

Finally China has launch the 2nd large cruise ship.

I was always wondering why tf are we able to churn out Type 055s like nothing but never a Royal Carribean cruise ship. And it's not like the market is not there, many people love to cruise as well.

Most large cruise ships right now are still made in Europe funnily enough despite the dominance of Asian shipyards. This is still baffling me.

Hope something bigger than the Icon of the Seas are now being built here, need to stop using the the shitty design of the Carnival ships, which imo are inferior and less advanced.

P.s. dont ask me why I post here, theres zero cruise thread on this whole site apparently.

Most recent post in this thread is literally a cruise ship.

Can any man assuage my OCD about something? In videos of the 055, say the 101 Nanchang, I sometimes see the first exhaust funnel having a horizontal and level top edge but at other times, the same ship and often in the same video, that same exhaust funnel is no longer horizontal but actually is a bit taller and its top edge is now at a angle to the horizontal. Does this funnel have a extendable top section or something? Thanks men.

Didn't they add the funnel extension for 101 somewhat recently to match the rest of the class?

They are different ships, type 055 built in JNCX and Dalian have slight differences in their funnel top shapes. The video that you mentioned have footages of different ships stiched together to make it whole, which is very common, in fact in almost every naval ship video coming out from CCTV.

I believe 101-104 were completed with flush tops for both funnels. 105-108 were completed with a raised and angled cowl over the front funnel. If I am not mistaken. At least sone of 101-104 were subsequently refitted with the same cowl over the front funnel sometime in the last couple of years

It's highly probable that railgun lack practical use at the moment. However, there is a common technological origin with electromagnetic catapults, an electromagnetic VLS for missiles could be a solution for extending range.
