This is the first photo I have seen that shows a missile launch from the bridge of a 054A:
Another door also opened. Maybe two missiles were launched in one salvo.

I created a gif of an 054A's HHQ-16 intercepting what seems to be a sea skimmer (target drone?) from the news clip of the recent SCS exercise.
Can't see exactly what it hit, but it does looks like the missile intercepting something near the sea level. If that target drone was homing in the 054A and the HHQ-16 failed to intercept it's traget, wouldn't it be dangerous for the 054A crew even if the drone was without a warhead? Or they can have the drone self destruct when it's too close to the ship like other missiles or they can actually control the flight path of the drone all the way remotly?
The Standard 2-6 systems (except Standard 3) all have the capabilities to target both enemy planes and enemy ships. Just wondering if the HHQ-9 and HHG-16 have similar anti-ship capabilities.I created a gif of an 054A's HHQ-16 intercepting what seems to be a sea skimmer (target drone?) from the news clip of the recent SCS exercise.

We saw, in the late 1990s through 2007 or so, relatively small numbers of newer PLAN combatants being inducted. The Type 054A series really pack a punch and are a great multi role FFG
A powerful warship and I can see why PLAN is getting so many of them
