With two yards now producing them...unless they plan to switch one of them to something else soon...I would expect them to build even more than eighteen. Twenty-four seems more likely to me at this point.@tidalwave ... it has been widely expected by many in this forum that the number of 052D would be at lest 18 ... in not more. Have you got the link o fthe news?
nothing official, it just that I occasionally ran into programs which commentators spilled it here and there.@tidalwave ... it has been widely expected by many in this forum that the number of 052D would be at lest 18 ... in not more. Have you got the link o fthe news?
This statement is constructed in a manner which already assumes that expansion of 055 production to 3 shipyards is a certainty. This is something you do not have the evidence to assume, regardless of how much weight you are trying to give to internet rumors. This isn't to say that I believe my position is an "almost certain" explanation for why an expansion or destroyer production to three yards is occurring. But I do believe that there is insufficient evidence to suggest that it is "almost certain" that the expansion of production is due to economic considerations and unrelated to the Navy's strategic and operational needs, and I also think there is a viable counter position to say that such an expansion in destroyer production may have been part of the Navy's plans.

I think that with Type 052D production going on a two yards already, that when Type 055 kicks off, it may ultimately also include a third yard.Well the entire discussion was written by both plawolf and myself with the presumption that destroyer production would be expanded to three shipyards, yes, and we were debating the potential reason for such an expansion.
I don't think anyone here is operating the assumption that expansion of destroyer production to three shipyards is 100% going to occur, but the sad fact is that there's been enough rumours about it over the last few months from some sources with past credibility, that it warrants some discussion, not only about whether it may occur or not but also why it may occur.
(also note: destroyer production =/= 055 production)

I thought you were saying earlier that specifically the 055 would be produced in 3 yards, not just destroyer production in general?Well the entire discussion was written by both plawolf and myself with the presumption that destroyer production would be expanded to three shipyards, yes, and we were debating the potential reason for such an expansion.
