The model’s main island looks off, but the funnel might be viable. It would make sense to keep the island as consistent as possible across future CVs (if any) and CVNs

Some Weibo-ers are vaguely hinting that the model is not real

While I was in Shanghai, I talked with partner units linked to Jiangnan Shipyard, and our aircraft carrier program is now planned through the sixth hull. It’s also confirmed that construction will proceed simultaneously in the north and the south. We won’t be relying on a single shipyard—two yards will work in parallel, one in the south and one in the north.
Also, I just realised he claimed the carrier programme is planned through the 6th hull, does it mean they intend on ordering 3 new hulls in this FYP(2025-2030)?

I would think 004 and the 003A are the 4th and 5th hulls, and it is highly likely both were ordered in the previous FYP. So that leaves another one presumably to be ordered in the current FYP, either DL or JN. That's my interpretation anyway.

This looks pretty consistent with, say, the third picture in this series on Fujian's construction process. Just the rear is missing, but it will be propably added soon. So in view of that, I would be tempted to say that it is now confirmed they are indeed building a carrier here.

I don’t quite understand. Whilst CNA Fujian uses conventional propulsion, its exhaust is pretty small and was able to fit inside the stealthy island. The large exhaust per the model seen here seems to be less stealthy and a regression from the more advanced design onboard Fujian. Why?

Simple. Your so call "less steahtly" and "regession" island is actually the more advanced design. The current island on the Fujian is pretty crappy for blowing soot on to the mast.

I thought people already said it was comestic only and does not affect actual performance?

Do you really believe engineers, busy as they are, would be allowed to spend time doing a substantial redesign of the island structure without performance justification?
