This year I have been listening to BBC for fifty years.

I learned very young, shortly after I learned reading, that it makes sense to compare news given by several channels.
me too, sort of, as it was related to like howling sound of Communistic jamming stations

This spokesman shows that he thinks you should limit yourself to a single channel.

Yesterday and today there is much discussion on the BBC about BBC World Service increasing its "independent" reporting in more languages and being paid for it by the Foreign Office!

Doesn't taking salaries from the government make BBC a state owned propaganda machine? A British government's mouth-piece? :D

BTW, BBC is a SOE in every sense. The BBC Trust is the owner, the trustees are appointed by the monarch on the advice of the government just like the ministers. The head of BBC, Director General (CEO), is appointed by the Trust.

It is long overdue to bust the myth of "independent" reporting. They are independent from the people, but dependent on the government or the money groups.

to retake from ISIS the Tal Afar Airport. In the evening, the PMU reached the airport’s outskirts and engaged ISIS terrorists in it. After a series of firefights, the PMU took control of this key site west of the ISIS stronghold, Mosul.
Now, the PMU will likely advance on the town of Tal Afar and nearby hilltops in order to cut off ISIS from its supply lines to Syria
