It is relevant in comparing Chinese and American what to choose when different alternatives are presented regarding how to treat people. And bringing up a European company, their style of management, and the style of management that was adopted by its Chinese subsidiary is relevant how? In a discussion that was about managerial styles of American and Chinese companies.
You just demonstrated the American exceptionalism perfectly. Don't forget that the US branch of my company is as much a subsidiary of European company as the Chinese branch. To which I can say its no surprise a Chinese subsidiary of a European company emulated its managerial style, that's not necessarily the case with Chinese corporate culture as a whole.
You should be equally surprised that the American subsidiary choose not to emulate a more humane and respectful managerial style while some Americans like you still try to claim a moral high ground over people who make the right choice. It is a clear indication that the kind of brutal managerial style is deeply rooted from American culture without self awareness.
