That guy became anti-China in his commentary and reviews the more his channel got popular. The comment section was accusing him of being a wumao, and the fact that he's of mixed heritage must have wounded his Norwegian bleeding heart and decided to placate the racists rather than those of people like myself and others that assumed his channel was worthy of subscription based on substance. I am only speculating, but it seems to some hapas shitting on Chinese is their way to earn back their western points. As for Vinfast, most of the people who professed affection for the product are pure metaphorical and political rhetoric since none of them will actually buy that product for obvious reasons. It's one thing to rant off on the internet but it's quite a different matter when those type of people have to spend their hard earned money on something that's not exactly cheap let alone of quality.I remember reading comments on EV communities & the people there were giving the benefit of doubt(sometimes even praises) to this unknown company while simultaneously shi*tting on BYD, an established automaker lol.
This mentality was also reflected in a review of this car by some Norwegian YT'ber, his review of this car VS Chinese cars is a stark contrast. Every time something in the car went wrong such as rattling doors, he just says its not the final version. But when he reviews a Chinese car, he always jokes about Made-in-China & joked about how Chinese EVs are heavy because of 'Chinese steel' Not to mention, being nitpicky about every little thing in the Chinese car.
Just like most Americans, those kind of Europhiles will bite their tongue and buy themselves wumao NEVS then continue to slag China and anything Chinese on their electronic products that are made by Wumaos of China. For us Chinese, I can call that a WIN-WIN.
