The fact that they still say things like "and the Chinese people definitely believe that" says so, so much about their attitude. Believe what? A fact is not meant to be believed. It is a fact that America is doing everything in its power to stifle China's economic growth. There is no ambiguity about this, yet I see statements like this coming out of the west all the time. It's as if they truly believe that they are a benevolent actor. It is absolutely absurd and borders on delusion.

The first thing you'd need to understand about Anglo discourse is that they do not give the slightest shit about 99.999% of reality or anyone in particular.
They'll unironically drop bombs on people and turn around to say, "Can't you see this is done for your own good? Why are you fighting back?" The opinion of the 99.999% from a country has no value to them, they will hear the half of dozen of sycophants in their country and believe they are the only people that matters.
