Turns out PLAN vessel actually radioed ROCCGA vessel during the exercise to tell them to cooperate for photo, on more than one occasion too.

This is the exact problem many talk about. US policy against China isn't driven by even national interest concerns to a full extent. "Being tough" domestic politics is a huge part of it. And I am afraid a good chunk of American government are ideological crusaders themselves too. Because as far as I see the US is totally not negotiateable. Nothing China did make a difference. China did try cooling things down even just a few months ago. Then we got the balloon sequence. I think balloon farce was the final drop in the glass that convinced most of China's bureaucracy that US doesn't worth talking to.

This guy's whole shtick is basically being an American Medvedev except Medvedev is issuing his threats towards an irrelevant and chronically underdeveloped breadbasket while Cotton is threatening the most powerful country in the world.

They failed to defend Afghanistan and now Ukraine and they even what to add China into the list. Don’t they know that the dollar is really in trouble right now and that should the value get low enough they won’t be able to purchase the necessary items to use against China. Someone is getting ahead of themselves because once Russia has settle the Ukraine issue, that will eventually join China to settle the U.S. issue. I am convinced that the only way the US will ever listen to China and Russia is when a massive number of US troops are killed and even then neither nation will stop there, the entire leader ship must be eradicated for the sake of the world because the leaders in the USA simply cannot change…. At least until they shipped naked into a gulag
