For a second, I thought I clicked the Funny Stuff thread by mistake.
The Nobel Peace Prize? The same one that was awarded to the Dalai Lama and Liu Xiaobo? And Xi Jinping can get one too? It'll punch a big hole in the principles of the Nobel Peace Prize. Which is to further the democrazy, agenda of the White elites.
The moment Xi's name gets nominated, all the usual cartoons will start protesting. They'll be protesting about the familiar stuff. Human rights, Uighurs, Tibetans, HK, Wuhan lab, etc.
If Xi somehow gets nominated. It's more likely a PR trap. They might also nominate Joshua Wong at the same time. Then finally awarding that Nobel Peace Prize to Joshua Wong in the end, in order to humiliate Xi. Naah, just stay away from that stinking turd of a 'peace prize'. Xi has got better things to do.

Any ban will likely bar all American companies from doing business with Tiktok, including the Google and Apple app stores. This effectively bans Tiktok in all markets as most Android users will not bother with manually sideloading an app and sideloading is not even possible on iPhone.
Yes, the hysteria over Tiktok in the US is driven mostly by Meta behind the scenes. China needs to make it clear to Zuckerberg that any Tiktok ban in the US will result in retaliation against Meta.
Even though Meta's social media platforms don't have any presence in China, China can still seriously harm Meta by banning companies advertising with Meta from doing business in China.
Meta's advertising revenue stagnated and in fact declined for the last 3 consecutive quarters despite continued growth in overall ad industry revenue. This is in large part because companies are finding Meta ads to be cost ineffective compared to other options.
When faced with the choice of losing the Chinese market or stop spending their ad dollars on ineffective Meta ads, a lot of companies will pick the latter.
This practice of using political means to block the market has aroused the concern of radicals who believe that the use of force to expand the market in the future is inevitable, otherwise relying solely on the shrinking domestic market will not be able to compensate for the huge investment costs of semiconductor production.
