It’s already too late. Hate or love Xi Jinping I think one thing everyone in the world could agree upon is that he has a long memory and very easily holds a grudge. After Biden admin allowed for so much humiliation right before him taking power for a third term, the best that Yellen and Co could hope for is for China not to sabotage the situation any further.

Funny enough his fate was to die in disgrace and end up forgotten. A fate that could ultimately befall the USA if they don’t stop with the megalomaniac madness that light did end up going into in the last part of the manga when he thought he had a winning hand whilst being completely blinded to all other external factors, kinda like what is happening to the USA right now

If NK shooting ICBMs and nukes can't get SK to ally with Japan, then I seriously doubt some vague ambiguous "pressure" from China will do that. NK was shooting ICBMs over SK/Japan, yet they still hate each other. Easiest divide-and-conquer ever for China.

"A spectre is haunting Europe", I wonder if modern Europeans have heard about it.

Still, the rape statistics(number of rape incidents per 100,000 citizen) don't really bear this perception out. India is way down that particular league table

Not entirely sure how much store you can put into those figures. Different countries are more or less assiduous about collecting data on rape incidents and- for that matter- there might be different criterion for determining what constitutes rape.

Also, anecdotally there does seem to be a bit of harassment of Western tourists in India and there probably is high underreporting of sexual violence against women there. But there certainly does seem to be a curious discrepancy between the perception and the statistics..

If a woman reports rape in India she is killed by her own family or the police she reports it to rape her again. You may think I’m exaggerating but stories like this are extremely common.
