that's just North American lithium. There is really nothing Biden can do about China importing lithium for Argentina or Chile or Bolivia. Again, even Australia is shipping most of its lithium to china for refining!
Not that alone, the Taiwanese mouth piece also speculate the US may block car Chip and BYD will Huawei v2. General car Chip might use mature technique for manufacturing like 90nm but self driving may require higher tech which subjects to blockage from the US.
BYD uses Horizon Robotics Journey 5 SoC, which can be produced by 16nm process. There is no risk on that. It is also integrating with Nvidia Orin SoC, but that's likely for just certain higher end models or for exports.
Long term, it's going to be designing its own chips and I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually gets into chipmaking.
BYD is not Huawei. It's just really hard to sanction BYD.
