I'm going to copy paste what I wrote on an another forum so that people here can get a sense of the tragedy:

I'm from the epicenter of the earthquake and my relatives like many others were asleep when it happened. Thank God that they weren't harmed but my grandma's sister broke her back and her children were injured. I've heard that they were stuck under for a while but thankfully they got rescued later and are currently waiting for a doctor to get operated. There are thousands like them who are either injured or under rubble.

People like me who live abroad are having trouble reaching out to their relatives/loved ones in Turkey.

Hundreds of buildings have collapsed. Hell, even my old apartment which I lived in up until like 3 years ago has collapsed.

The sad part is, most of this destruction and loss of life could've been avoided had the government invested more in appropriate measures.

I am so relieved to hear that your family is okay but am awestruck by the scale of the calamity. Hopefully the rescue effort goes smoothly and reduce the human cost.

Nope, can never trust USA

Nope, can never trust USA... China must do the only thing it can do, increase its own nuke count and delivery capabilities
China benefits from the global nuke stockpile lessening because when there are comical amount of nukes, even having an edge in tech becomes irrelevant in the face of nuke spamming.

Ideally, China's enemies should be controlled into having nuclear stockpiles similar to India or Pakistan, I.e. ones that can be defeated by China if it should come to the worst, while China retains a stockpile of similar or slightly larger size, except it is fully orbitalized and HGV ready.

China will probably not achieve this goal with USA through negotiation only, but I don't see why China shouldn't send a rep over to USA to ask them to go down in nuke numbers together. Worst case, US refuses and China can play it up as American nuclear irresponsibility.

Because the talks will be all about reducing China's warheads and "guard rails" ie questioning the need for more weapons, US talk with "forked" tongue as our native brothers and sisters have said.

Surely it is of China's interest to enter talks with America to reduce both side nuke counts to at most 1500~. That's within the realm where Chinese missile defense can possibly work or at least mitigate enough to ensure the survival of the nation, if given several more years to perfect their craft. And a smaller amount of nukes will favor the side with FOBS and HGVs during a first strike.

As long as Russia remains as a player. They are going to insist China either cuts to 750 nukes with Russia having the other 750 while they keep 1500. They are not going to sign any agreements unless China handicaps themselves severely because Russia already has a lot of nukes.

I also see no reason why there should be any arms negotiations. Look at how they keep handling any discussions over Ukraine in complete and total bad faith. Back tracking every single promise they made. We don’t even need to start on Taiwan.

What makes you think they are trustworthy enough to to handle negotations on nuclear weapons? When they can’t even handle matters that are a lot less complex. The Americans today are not the same serious Americans that the Soviets dealt with during the Cold War.

I fully support arms control. The US must cut down on its excessive nuclear stockile instead of complaining about China’s stock.

If the US wants to negotiate nukes, just open with this:

"Just let us know the number of nuclear weapons per capita you would like for both of us and we will accept."

Doesn't even need to be a meeting, just an email.
