With the continuous antagonistic and confrontational behavior that Washington DC is exhibiting against China, not even the pandas gifted to the US by China in 2003 are spared...

When you thought that the Wanwanese frog "president" is totally unemphatic about the death of Tuan Tuan just weeks ago is bad enough, their bootlicking master is way worse.

Football is probably the most competitive sport there is. There are lots of countries where children growing up will have one goal, which is to become a footballer. There are lots of countries that are football mad but perform poorly on the international stage.

Most Olympic sports on the other hand have low rates of participation, and as equipment/facilities access is limited for many people it's much easier to improve your performance at the Olympics by just throwing money at it.

My solution to the Chinese national team is to send @ansy1968 to as many African countries as possible. In 20 years many half Chinese African will be eligible for the Chinese national team....

Xi's authoritarian autocracy has no place for private companies like Alibaba. Under Xi, Alibaba has had

I used Adrian Zenz math to demonstrate Alibaba's collapse.

YearAlibaba Revenue (millions)
2012 (last year of Hu Jintao)¥853,062
2022¥20,025

Since Xi took power, Alibaba has experienced a -4159.99% decline in revenue. That's literally impossible, except in Xi's China.

This is genocide.
People usually confuse stock performance which in a bull bubble market could be overvalue with real performance.

Seeing a lot of World cup discussion on here. I feel like it's false choice. China's priority is to develop tech, economy, military, improving the lives of her people etc etc., and will always be. Doesn't mean they can't develop a good National football team. I guess we can forget all about China's investment into both Winter and Summer Olympics then. Others already argued it's not mutually exclusive, good for physical activity and so on.

I don't think China will ever turn the sport into a religious like following on a national scale like what some Latin American countries have, and the govt will crack down on it if it ever gets close to that. Yes the mass media broadcast of the sport could be seen as a form of bread and circus, but it's not like China is banning the current world cup from broadcasting. Honestly people need their "bread and circus" to break their life routine sometimes.

While speculation continues over the fate of Taiwan’s semiconductor factories in the event of an invasion by Beijing, US Ambassador O’Brien emphasises the importance of denying China the chipmaking infrastructure.

Speaking at the Richard Nixon Foundation’s

on 10 November, former US National Security Advisor Ambassador Robert O’Brien appeared to lend credence to reports the US will disable Taiwan’s semi-conductor chip manufacturing capabilities if China attempts to reunify the island with the mainland.

If China takes Taiwan and takes those factories intact – which I don’t think we would ever allow – they have a monopoly over chips the way OPEC has a monopoly, or even more than the way OPEC has a monopoly over oil,” said O’Brien.

Scorched-earth strategy

The US Army War College Press published a paper in November 2021 recommending that the US make credible threats to destroy Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) facilities, eliminating the most important supplier of micro-processing chips to China and the World.

The paper by Jared McKinley and Peter Harris, Broken Nest: Deterring China from Invading Taiwan, became the most highly downloaded paper from the US Army War College of 2021, and suggested that the US lay plans in Taiwan for a targeted scorched-earth strategy that would render the island “not just unattractive if ever seized by force, but positively costly to maintain.”

Following months of speculation over possible US contingency planning, Bloomberg reported on 7 October that plans for worst case scenarios include evacuating Taiwan’s chip engineers, citing an unnamed US official as the source of the information.

IMHO: Essentially, US far-right ideologue O'Brien and other US neocon/neolib nutjobs suggest that the US should bomb TSMC facilities and kidnap its engineers before China can acquire them via reunification.

The funniest thing is the US spending so much effort to secure TSMC, when China is most likely going to leap frog them in 10 years.
