No, pakistan have given airbase to USA and pakistan had done airstrikes recently in afganitan and killed many afgan even Taliban had warned them. Pakistan is reaping what they have done recently.

Thucydides' Trap means the old hegemon attempting to destroy the rising power through war, not acting like a dickhead to him in every way other than war. All of these measures actually show that Thucydides' Trap is no longer active due to MAD or the US would have went to war with China probably during/before the Trade War time. Every day they choose not to, America's prospects fade and the snowball they want to stop grows bigger. They know it. That they only use economic and diplomatic efforts to contain China even while watching China catch up to and overtake them by the day in every field with no recourse to reverse it means that Thucydides' Trap is gone. What we are seeing here is like a Burger King vs. MacDonald's rivalry, not like a Sparta vs. Athens all out war.
Pakistan has it's own interest. These are the same guys that housed osama bin laden for a nearly a decade and played their own cards in afganistan. If the US is willing to toss money and gear at them, they can only accept it..
Trans national hostility has mostly ended in western europe and america, however this is still unfortunately prevalent in most of Asia. Hence everyone is hedging against each other
This is why ethnic nationalism is a real cancer. Azerbaijan and Armenian rivalry really heated up with the collapse of the USSR which brutally repressed nationalists on both sides. Same with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and even the whole Pashtun nationalism situation between Afghanistan (ruled by Pashtun Taliban) and Pakistan (which has more Pashtun by population).
This may sound controversial to Non Indians but Tucker is partially right here. British did attempt to civilize the Indian society
1. They banned Sati ( in which a widow sacrifices herself by sitting atop her deceased husband's funeral pyre.)
2. They allowed for Widow remarriage.
3. They introduced labour reforms.
4. They encouraged women education.
5. Codified concepts like rule of law, equality etc
6. Opened schools and colleges where for the first time untouchables and lower castes could study (for thousands of years this community was robbed of their basic dignity ).
7. Banned Female Infanticide
8. Outlawed Thugee and dacoity.
Now don't get me wrong, Britians primary aim was loot and plunder but nobody can deny that they did introduce civility amongst Indians. Also Indians should be thankful to British as the latter was responsible for the political and administrative unity of the nation. Without them the Indian subcontinent today would've been like 20 different countries.
Ended in Europe because most countries there turned into US lackeys. Still prevalent in Asia (also Africa and S America?) because the countries there are still somewhat/mostly sovereign and therefore act in their own interests. This is in line with the multi-polar world envisaged by China and Russia. I'd say it is a fact of life - 有人的地方就有江湖 - and not necessarily 'unfortunate'.
Waiting for the day when President Xi or any future Chinese leader steps down from a designed-&-built-by-China special transport airliner during state visits (instead of a retrofitted Boeing 747-8).
