Not at all, not even close. Nuclear weapons are a pandoras box that ***always*** spirals to strategic exchange. Using nuclear weapons is tantamount to pushing the button that launches the countersalvo and inflicts millions of casualties on your nation. Even if we were to be absolutely clapped by the PRC, we would not under any circumstances resort to first use. Turning your nation into the state equivalent of a suicide bomber because a war is lost is not a prudent, nor pragmatic choice - nuclear weapons are a deterrent against sheer, existential threats, not a tool that will be used anything resembling casually.
Okay, so how do you explain Hiroshima and Nagasaki? America wasn't extensively clapped by Japan yet we know what happened.

Let me guess, American exceptionalism once again.
