They cannot blame China for destruction of TSMC. China warned Pelosi not to go to Taiwan. China's warning fell on deaf ears. In China face is very important. Slapping Chinese in the face is the biggest insult that cannot be tolerated.
What I am refering to is the specific threat by China against Taiwan on destroying the TSMC plants in Taiwan, as per mentioned by @ember.

If China attacks and takes over Taiwan while leaving the TSMC plants intact, those plants can be restarted and put back into operation soon enough when proper law and order have been restored on the island. Then things would have gone back to normal in a couple of months.

Destroying the plants will not help China achieve any of that.

Turth is what can be propagated with some authenticity. And who will sell that narrative? China is hopeless when it comes to international PR, even Russia and Qatar do it better with RT and Al Jazeera.

Russia invaded after years of violations of Minsk agreements, everyone still blames Putin.

John Kirby's argues that the status quo has not changed since decades ago, a speaker of congress has visited Taiwan. Well, the PRC has also conducted live fire exercises decades ago, so that is also by his argument not a change in the status quo. If we can bring back events from decades ago to define what is the current status quo, then artillery duels are also on the table.

John, the status quo are the conditions that have resulted in stability in the Taiwan straight since the last crisis, and it has continuously been eroded since 2018 by the US. You say the White House's position hasn't changed concerning the One China policy, but the actions done by the last two administrations point to the opposite.

If the playing with fire stuff turns out to be empty bluster then he really probably is an idiot. If you don’t mean it, don’t say it as a threat.
Yeah, that's the conclusion I draw as well. That must be it, the president of China is an idiot. Glad we got that settled.

What he should have said about Hong Kong and Taiwan is "kill 'em all."

The USAF's scope of operation, i.e. defending Pelosi's plane would be expanded - From merely escorting her plane and warding off any interception efforts by the PLAAF into hunting down (and possibly destroy) Chinese ground-based/air-based HQ-9 detection and launcher units. This is because in the eyes of the US military, locking her plane with HQ-9 would mean that the PLA really wants to shoot her plane down, and hence, escalation.

This would further increase the risks of confrontation between the US military and the PLA going red hot.

On the contrary, if the US launches an attack on Chinese territory, that would be casus belli for a full retaliation, and the US escort would be the first casualties. Therefore, I think that would give the US a greater reason to turn back.

Why hype up the impending what looks like an eventual visit if Pres.Xi is simply going to go with this recent spiel? Those who play with fire, shall be given a gift of fireworks.

And how is China and the mainland Chinese supposed to win the hearts and minds sphere when every chance or media they absorb are full of CCP evil, CCP genocide, CCP stolen tech, invasion of Taiwan, debt trap with all of them funded by Taiwanese government and other prominent Chinese who hates the CCP.

What tools are they going to be given in order to compete the battle space with some chance of actual winning?

And if the latest response from the government would be say tepid (am not saying that this is what will happen) at best then it'll simply incentivize China's enemies to make another visit or America/Europe exact another sanctions by yet another made up, trumped up allegations.

Well, I guess it's better to live in peace and just absorb every attack for nowm
