You mean it surprises you based on how unrealistic his other ideas are? Cus nobody in Europe wants to do shit except talk trash to Russia and the US wouldn't even dare hand jets to Ukraine that Poland wants to supply so why should Japan volunteer to be the idiot of the group? What's it gonna do, try to take those islands from Russia? LOL Japan saw the Darwin Award getting polished up and were in absolutely no mood to put their names on it.
Indeed.

This was published in the Nikkei a few days ago:
With progress toward a postwar peace treaty now looking unlikely, Kishida's government has brought back the descriptions of the islands as "inherent territories of Japan" that have been "under illegal occupation" by Russia. The islands form the southernmost end of the Kuril archipelago.
Russian Pravda is already sensationalizing it:
Currently, almost all of Russia's military contingent is located in the west of the country. The expert believes that Japan may try to seize the Kuril Islands amid the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
Japanese strike aircraft may suppress Russia's air defense and coastal missile systems deployed on the disputed islands. Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force may then block the straits and establish a no-fly zone before conducting a landing mission to capture the islands, the analyst suggests, adding that the warships and submarines of the Russian Pacific Fleet will not be able to show proper resistance to the powerful forces of Japan.
According to Marzhetsky, it is only a nuclear attack that will be able to stop Tokyo from implementing its plans to seize the Kuril Islands from Russia.

"This is where American and other NATO instructors do the most training of Ukrainians. I was just there yesterday. It’s also right near the Polish border. Serious escalation on Russia’s part."
Nice
"When Russia bombed the base near Lviv last night, it had to assume Americans were likely to be killed or injured. A coordinator of foreign volunteers in Ukraine told me the base was a hub for 1000s of them, coming from all over to help Ukraine. I met some from US, UK, Australia."

Lemme simplify it: This is where we (NATO) train your enemy to kill you. And this is also where foreigners that wants to come and kill you gather.

Based on the statistics compiled by Oryx, Russia has lost close to 100 tanks in the last week. Half of which are their modern variants: T-72B3, T-72B3 Obr. 2016, T-80 BVM (2017) and T-90A.

Do we have an estimate on how many tanks Russia staged for the invasion of Ukraine?

According to CFR, Russia entered the war with almost 10,000 tanks in its inventory, so they are losing 1% of that a week at the current rate. Furthermore, what percentage of those tanks can be considered modern?

According to one source I could find, by 2020 Russia had upgraded a total of 558 tanks to the T-72B3 standard. They lost more than 10% of that set by now.

Serious escalation if foreign fighters are hurt.
I don't think they said the same thing when foreign fighters died in Syria or Iraq.
