Russia is very low on manpower for the kind of operation they are now engaged in and likely to find themselves in going forward.

Given the above, Russia will be increasingly wary of taking disproportionate combat losses, such as those associated with an urban offensive. As such I would expect the campaigns against Kiev and other major cities to be of the siege variety coupled with heavy fires. Opportunistic advances aside, the goal will be to starve the defenders into submission (while of course continuing to offer 'humanitarian corridors').

The current western sanctions regime apparently offers no off-ramp. Given the myriad complexities of the sanctions applied it is difficult to imagine what a credible and compelling off-ramp would even look like. One suspects that Russia will simply 'bank' the sanctions as a cost already incurred with the prospect of subsequent revisions playing little role in the strategic calculus. Indeed, having incurred such high costs Putin is likely to seek a greater "return on investment". As such, he and his circle have every reason to double and triple down on the current path.

Given the manpower shortage, the medium-term economic picture and the domestic political implications thereof, and the likely lengthy nature of the campaign to come, I expect that Putin's circle will also increasingly consider a general mobilisation.

If I am reading that right, you are saying 700k Americans died in Afghanistan?

Yes but that is according to the IEA data collections thru out the 20 years conflict. Notice atleast 1m+ skirmishes, duals, clashes, gun fights happened thru out the country on the highest mountain to the lowest riverbank side and everything in between.

Also The US were hiding their true casualities during the vietnam war but came out much later date and the numbers were 1000 times higher. Countries don't release KIA numbers whatever they release is fake and for the public consumption.

The Americans have hired majority of their armed forces as contractors meaning they don't have to acknowledge it and whatever you call it dozens of contractors died

I think Some Sino brothers have been shaken from this war..... I am seeing people who were not pacifists turning pacifists? people like @Bellum_Romanum @siegecrossbow These were my favourite cowboys and gunslingers.

Seems like this little adventure had some sort of mental impact? Chillax brothers come down and ''as they say every war is a different war''

Besides I am not surprised as this is going along the probability of conventional engagements in Urban areas. Russia will reclaim all of Ukraine in sort time in few months time..

Seems like this war scared the hell out of the wrong people..........

There will be many wars post this war

That is normal. The sight of dead people does NOT give normal people a hard-on for more dead people.

Not me.. But one of the fighting side is claiming that which is IEA which is the same in comparison to the US claims of extremely low numbers... My opinion on that is neutral and in the middle. I don't believe in the US nor these of the IEA

Well, Afghan claims of 770k Americans killed have never been taken seriously by any other major countries. Ukrainian claims is pretty assumed to be believable by many respected Western institutions and people.

As for you claims that some people become less pro-war as a result of this conflict, I would say that any normal person would start to lose interest in a war which only comes to pretty much a grinding halt (stalemate) in terms of positions held by the two sides, and only information come out of there is just more building, more people and more military equipment getting blown to pieces. If there are decisive progresses on either sides consistently coming out, I'm sure people would be more enthusiastic about war.
