Soooo… how was the unit wiped out? The ambush was initially conducted very well. That’s for sure, but the Russians fell back into a defensive posture and returned fire. Plus there was a lot of editing to make it like it was one ambush.
If you look carefully at the video second by second, the attack by the Ukrainian ATGM team did not succeded in their ambush. They were attacked by 2 tanks behind the one that was hit, and probably they were eliminated by the tank gun fire

Also, the tank that was hit and burst into flame and smoke kept on moving, and the flame extinguished. The missile seen to be just skid the hull of the tank and caused explosion and fire on something on top of the hull, the missile landed at the road side after hitting the tank. Probably the fuse of the ATGM failed to detonate.

NLAW is supposed to fly over the target and detonate its HEAT warhead downwards:

Note the downward facing warhead near the tip.

So I don't think we can say just because part of the ATGM flew further past the tank that it was an unsuccessful attack. The tank could well be in a non-repairable state. However it's also true that this attack didn't seem to have critically damaged the tank. If the turret was truely pierced by the HEAT round I don't think two of the crew would be in a state were they could climb out and run away from the vehicle. We kind of need further detail, particularly if the driver is okay and if he deliberately drove the tank forward, or was he incapacitated and the tank rolled forward on its own.

It looks like the tank is hit by NLAW from the top, which based on the flames might have cooked off the fuel/ammunition. RIP to the crew if that actually occurred. But it was also basically a suicide attack by the Ukrainian fireteam. Still, trading 3-4 infantryman for a tank + 3 crew isn't a bad deal for Ukrainians.

If you check the video again frame by frame, the missile is fired at a horizontal flight path, and the launched is probably an IFV instead of foot soldier, also a few video frames after the hit shows the position of the tank that was hit, it is somewhere at the rear of the turret or the detachable drum fuel tanks.

Also there is no way a missile can achieve a flight path for a top attack mode from such a close distance. And it may not even be a top attack missile in this case.
