With this invasion Putin has pulled a reverse-Nixon move. He has basically severed any possibility for Russia to become western friendly.

China merely needs to be careful that it doesn't push for excessive benefits and it should be ok

They have not gave reports of how many Ukrainians died because I am assuming that is a sensitive topic to not cause outrage but reporting their equipment being destroyed instead.

Russia's military is a joke. They might win but not before losing so many of their troops. To think they are getting cooked by slow moving toy planes.

Predictable. Russia will most likely achieve a pyrrhic victory. One of the side effects of this poorer than expected performance is it will psychologically boost both the Washington elites and regular Americans to physically take on China on the Taiwan issue even more. They will falsely equal the Chinese military doctrine, training, equipment as copies of Russia and can't possibly win in a ambitious Taiwan campaign, and a chance to halt the "rebellion" against the current world order once and for all.

Ukraine has been abandoned to their luck by the same powers who stirred all this mess, this is rising a lot of questions in Taiwan. Whatever twitter victory Ukrainians have that fact is the Russians are disintegrating that country day by day. Its like this season is not very well suited for a war, but what do I know...

It should be a good season until around mid-March. However, if the weather is warm, it will get bad.

One of the reasons the Germans waited until so late in the year for their Leroy Jenkins into the USSR was the mud. And the logistics issues, but those they'd never overcome.

I'm sorry if I was not clear. I meant the Russian soldiers dead. Did they give any numbers there?

Wonder what the economic instability will do to Putin.

Iran has survived even toughen sanctions. Russia can still sell its gas and oil. It has a long border with China that should keep basic goods in stock. So it is not totally doom for Russia.

Anyway, we wouldn't know the full effect of the sanctions until weeks, months and years later. However, sanctions don't seem to work well for whatever reason.
